Getting Started

Bix is a movie playlist tool that plays clips across one or more displays attached to your Mac. Bix separates the media from the playback details, so playback can be customized without altering the original media.

Bix lets you specify the portion of each movie you want to play. You can set looping, autostart behavior and the displays are used to display the movies in the playlist.

Creating Bix Documents

A Bix document represents a collection of Movies (a playlist) and the associated playback settings.

The playlist can contain individual movies and Watch folders. Both items can be added using menu options or by dragging items between Bix documents. Watch folders cannot be added by dragging from the finder.

Watch folders are read each time a document is opened and all of the movies in that folder are added to your playlist. Once added, the individual movies within a Watch folder can not be removed without removing the entire folder.

Setting the Clip Length

By default, Bix will play each movie in its entirety. When selected, the scrub slider below the movie preview can be used to alter the beginning and end points for movie playback. For individual movies, this information is saved with the Bix document. Items in a Watch folder do not retain this information because there is no guarantee that the movies will be present in the watch folder when it is next read.
